Abyssal Plain Outpost

Here's a new one made using homemade "sandpaper." I coated sheets of paper with glue and then covered them with various dirt from around my house, including sawdust and wood flour. Then I collaged them with mylar pieces, additional paper, ink and paint. The "Abyssal Plain" is the flat area of the ocean floor.

New Paintings

I'm very happy to finally post these finished paintings. Summer has been a bit slower in the studio, as there are so many fun distractions from making art. But, the last few weeks have been pretty productive, and I'm excited with this new series. I hope you dig them...

Plexiglass paintings

Here are some new pieces that I've been working on. They each consist of eight layers of 1/4 inch plexiglass, with acrylic paint on the separate layers. These are the first of many more to come. As you can see, they are a challenge to photograph, and I realized that trapped dust becomes a big problem. But I'm looking forward to working these issues out and creating some larger ones. These are all 12 x 12 inches.

Older drawings

I've been doing a lot of music recently, and new work has been a bit slow, but I wanted to post some older drawings that were neither here nor there, and that's why i like them. New work soon...

New Work, New Shows

Here are some new paintings that I've been working on for an upcoming show at the Seattle Art Museum Gallery. I will have 3-4 new paintings in their Introductions 2008 group exhibition. The show runs from March 13 - April 12, 2008. Opening reception is March 13, 5 - 7 PM.

I also currently have paintings and drawings up at Fresh Flours, one of my favorite local cafes in the Phinney Ridge area of Seattle. The work will be up for February and March. Anyone who hasn't had one of their lemon ginger muffins is seriously missing out.

New Post

Wow. I've been a terrible blogger. The ironic thing is that I currently have work in two different galleries as part of "The Blogger Show." 2 pieces are at the Agni Gallery in NYC , and 2 pieces are at Digging Pitt, in Pittsburgh. So, I guess I'm not really much of a blogger. Or at least I haven't been recently. As the name of the shows suggest, they consist of work by artists that blog. A majority of the blogs I've visited by the participating artists, really WRITE. I don't really write all that much at all. My blog was really only started in order to have an online space to show my work. I guess blogs can take many different forms and purposes. I have to admit that I have felt rather low on the art blogging ladder, as I haven't updated very often, and I only write about myself. But, that's what this blog remains.... It's about my work. So, I wanted to post a new image, though it's not a new painting. It's actually a piece that's in the Blogger Show at Agni Gallery. I've got some cool new paintings in the works, and hopefully, they'll be finished within the next month. I'll be happy to finally post some new work then. A lot has been going on recently, and it's been a bit of a struggle to back back into production mode.... but things are finally clicking again. More to come...
