New Plexi Painting

This one was a long time coming. This is the largest one that I've finished so far. 24 x 24 inches and heavy as hell. Also, I've got to figure out how to photograph these things properly. I posted some smaller versions of the plexi-paintings before, but I despise them now (except for one). I'm in the process of stripping the previous layers of paint off so that I can redo them. More to come...

Third Time's a Charm

I first posted this painting a long while back, thinking it was done. Then I worked on it more and posted it again (since deleted). Now, here I am posting it again. IT IS DONE. For good. I guess it just wasn't weird enough before. Because it seems pleasingly weird now. DOINK!

New posts, new show and a new "drawings" section

I wanted to remind everyone that I'll have some recent paintings and drawings in a new group show called "Dualities: a collaboration", at SAM Gallery. It opens Thursday, November 13 from 5 - 7 pm. Please stop by to say hello and drink free wine with me! I also wanted to let people know that I've added a new "Drawings" section to the blog. Please click the "view drawings" image on the right to visit.

Abyssal Plain Outpost

Here's a new one made using homemade "sandpaper." I coated sheets of paper with glue and then covered them with various dirt from around my house, including sawdust and wood flour. Then I collaged them with mylar pieces, additional paper, ink and paint. The "Abyssal Plain" is the flat area of the ocean floor.

New Paintings

I'm very happy to finally post these finished paintings. Summer has been a bit slower in the studio, as there are so many fun distractions from making art. But, the last few weeks have been pretty productive, and I'm excited with this new series. I hope you dig them...

Plexiglass paintings

Here are some new pieces that I've been working on. They each consist of eight layers of 1/4 inch plexiglass, with acrylic paint on the separate layers. These are the first of many more to come. As you can see, they are a challenge to photograph, and I realized that trapped dust becomes a big problem. But I'm looking forward to working these issues out and creating some larger ones. These are all 12 x 12 inches.

Older drawings

I've been doing a lot of music recently, and new work has been a bit slow, but I wanted to post some older drawings that were neither here nor there, and that's why i like them. New work soon...
